The Connecticut State Soccer Association is a volunteer organization founded in 1913, as a charter member of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF), and incorporated in 1993. As the governing body of adult soccer in Connecticut, the CSSA's mission is to promote and foster adult soccer in the state.
The CSSA, its' leagues, clubs and teams, are members of USSF (also known as US Soccer) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA). The USSF is a member of both the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC).
CSSA teams are eligible to enter USASA and USSF sanctioned tournaments and national cups. These competitions give member clubs the opportunity to compete for state, regional and national titles.
In addition to national competitions, the CSSA sponsors its' own cup competitions, including men's over-30 and over-40 challenge cups.
The Connecticut State Referee Program provides oversight and development of match referees. The CSRP is governed by the State Referee Committee, and it holds training, clinics and assessments for beginning and experienced referees. The goal of CSRP is to get the best-qualified, experienced and knowledgeable referees to officiate CSSA matches.
